Home workspaces

In the fall of 2017, we sourced an archive of 800 photographs created from actual Mechanical Turk workers. Each worker was paid $.30 to take a photograph of their home workspace and tag the nearest city, which was projected to take a minute and 20 seconds to complete. This equated to $15 per hour, a premium wage on the platform. The photographs explore the dimensions of new economy work: where do the Turkers work, what are their workspaces like, what are the accouterments that accompany this work.
